Alegro International Plans to Launch Sonrics Mexican Candy Line in U.S. With a 15-item line-up including chewing gum, lollipops, bubble gum and bagged candy mixes, Alegro International is ready to launch its Sonrics candy brand in the U.S. A division of Sabritas, which is owned by Pepsico International, the $200 million candy line will appeal to U.S. Hispanics with its caramel-flavored milk candy lollipop, a star-shaped marshmallow lollipop, and a chili-flavored lollipop with a mango gum center.

The rollout primarily targets the 29 million U.S. Hispanics of Mexican heritage, but marketers expect the Sonrics line to have a broader appeal as well. Major chains such as Wal-Mart, HEB and 99 Cents Only have already agreed to carry the brand. (Candy Industry, April 2005)
