What is a Phone Card
A phone card is a residential and corporate product which allows a caller to purchase a designated amount of long distance minutes to make calls, from virtually any phone or country worldwide, without having to worry about having the correct amount of change.
A caller is provided with US/Canadian 1-800 number, international toll free number (ITFN) to access a platform. All calls are routed back to platforms in the U.S., for call processing and validation and then back out to the terminating country for completion.
Phone cards are usually targeted towards distributors domestically and internationally. Some are resellers while others can be agents, preferably not directly to the end users. Through the reseller channel, multiple market segments can be targeted, such as business travelers, the immigrant population or a residential base who int'l callers.
For incremental distribution, resellers are offered flexible prepaid card solutions, with a basic product design with support processes including transport, international access numbers, card numbers, call processing, validation, and customized branding. Resellers are responsible for production, sales and distribution of the product.
