Does a Small Business Need a Web Site or Web Page? Many small businesses may not need a full website. A recent 4th Qtr survey revealed that 40% of small businesses don't have a Web site (other surveys report 60%). There are more than 20 million small businesses in the United States. These figures easily read that perhaps "10 million small businesses in the United States don't have a Web site"
Some small business owners don't really need a Web site at all, perhaps they can get by with a Web page.
"What is a Web Page?" Web pages are basic information like contact data with a photo. Web page don't need a lot of maintenance nor much creativity. Web pages with email accounts can cost $3 per month.
"What is a Web Site?" Web Sites is comprised of a collection of many Web pages.
Web sites cost money not just to host, but to create. If you're going to have a Web site for your business, you're probably going to want it to look really cool, hip, and professional. You'll need to take time to develop it. You may need to pay a consultant to keep it updated.
Are the small business owners without a web site careless or just trying to save money? Marketing dollars are limited. There's a recession going on. For many, sinking a bunch of dollars into a Web site may not be the best return on investment.
