Cartagena Colombia Nightlife - At sunset, a popular happy-hour destination is Café Del Mar, located on the western side of the old town. The café is actually an outdoor bar where customers gather for cool drinks and spectacular sunset views. In the evening a horse-drawn carriage ride around the old city provides a beautiful and romantic experience, and can be easily arranged through the hotels.
One of the most popular Salsa clubs, Mister Babilla, located on the Av del Arsenel, consists of two rooms with a large bar and dance floor. The Ave del Arsenel is lined with numerous bars and clubs, most charging a cover fee. One of the largest discos, Babar, is located in the Plaza Santa Teresa, and is probably the hippest and most popular club, with the DJ spinning everything from Latin Rock to Raggaeton. The club scene in Cartagena starts around midnight and last until the wee hours.
La Cevicheria in the Ciudad Amurallada behind the Sofitel Santa Clara Hotel, serves up exceptional ceviches and only accepts cash. If your clients are impressed with “celebrity,” a visit to Juan Del Mar restaurant residing adjacent to the Sofitel Santa Clara is in order. Juan Del Mar himself is a bit of a local celebrity. A handsome, professional bullfighter and singer, he swaggers from table to table, charming women with entertaining stories of his life. The local dishes served here are outstanding and should not be missed.
Café el Santisimo is one of the must-visit restaurants in Cartagena. A truly unique establishment with an atrium garden, it serves creative local dishes all playing along a religious theme. For a tradition among locals, tell your clients to check out “Club de Pesca.” Part of a marina, the restaurant is located in Manga, a middle-class neighborhood away from most of the crowds. It’s easily accessible via a short taxi ride from the old town. |
