Cacique: This resort will feature a 270-room hotel managed by One & Only Resorts as part of an $800 million, 650-acre luxury resort set in a rain forest. Plans are for it to open in phases starting in 2010.
New Costa Rica Luxury HotelsHyatt Regency Azulera Resort & Spa is scheduled to open in 2010. Each of its 185 rooms will have sliding doors opening onto a private terrace overlooking green landscapes and vibrant gardens. Rooms also will include a plunge tub or hammock angled to visually capitalize on the area’s natural beauty. A centerpiece of the project is a Greg Norman-designed golf course.

JW Marriott Guanacaste is located on a secluded beach in the central part of the country, a highlight of the hotel will be a full-service spa with 22 treatment rooms and a state-of-the-art, two-level gym.

Mandarin Oriental Costa Rica: This 130-room beachfront property will be the cornerstone of a gated golf community, Rancho Manzanillo, set to open in 2010. Leisure activities will include an 18-hole Fred Couples Signature Championship golf course, a 20,000-square-foot spa and exotic wildlife roaming the property’s 200 acres of tropical dry forest. The hotel is located in the increasingly popular tourist area of Guanacaste, known for its Pacific coastline and stunning volcanoes.

St. Regis Resort & Residences: This 135-room luxury property is scheduled to open before Christmas. Upscale amenities include private butler service and helicopter transportation from the airport in San Jose, about an hour’s drive away.

Wyndham Garden Jaco Beach: When it opens in 2010, this 136-room resort will not only will be a five-star property, but will also have one of the “firsts” among the country’s beaches: a rooftop bar with views of the Pacific Ocean and adjacent mountains.
