On Bavaro Beach, Barcelo Hotels & Resorts (800-BARCELO, www.barcelo.com) is completing a multimillion dollar renovation at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort. Originally built in 1985, the all-inclusive complex includes five hotels with more than 2,000 rooms and suites, a casino, golf course, conference center, more than two miles of beach, and 14 buffet and a la carte restaurants.
 Phase I of the renovation is centered on the Premium Brand Barcelo Bavaro Palace Hotel, which will have all of its rooms, suites and public spaces remodeled, as well as receive 488 new junior suites that are being annexed from what is presently the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Hotel. When completed later this year, the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Hotel will feature 1,046 deluxe rooms and junior suites, almost all offering a sea view and balcony with a private whirlpool tub.
Next spring, the Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort (888-4-ROCOKI, www.rocoki.com), will open on the 18-hole, par-72, Nick Faldo-designed golf course, featuring a conference center, seven restaurants, a variety of bars, gourmet market and 18,000-square-foot spa.
The resort will feature 364 accommodations, including 146 Westin-branded condominium residences. Options will include 30 three- and four-beDominican Republicoom Beachfront Residences; 32 one- and two-beDominican Republicoom Westin Jungle Luxe Bungalows; 25 3,400-square-foot Westin Cliffside Villas; 146 one- and two-beDominican Republicoom Westin Cacique Terrace Condos and Villas; 28 6,200-square-foot EcoDominican Republiceam Villas with kitchens, living and dining rooms, and wrap-around terraces with a spa on the private roof deck; and 20 Beachfront Home Sites for custom-built homes.
