Cap Cana Golf Resorts
The Cap Cana (800-785-2198, www.capcana.com) resort complex is centered on such real estate ventures as condos, villas and mansions that upon completion will create the cache of a luxury community, mixing residents and hotel guests. Trump is only one player in the $1.5 billion resort complex that will feature more than 5,000 residential units, at least four luxury hotels, five golf courses and a marina catering to yachts of up to 150 feet. In its design, the marina subtly echoes Venice by using bridges and buildings that line its canals. The first phase of the Trump development includes the 68 Trump Farallon Estates at Cap Cana. Each estate sits on at least 1.5 acres within a gated community atop a stately, 200-foot-high bluff. The entire Cap Cana project will take 12 years to finish.
Luxury hotels will abound. The Sanctuary Cap Cana Golf and Spa Resort (www.altabellahotels.com) debuted with 176 rooms last January as the first of the area’s five-star hotels.
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts (www.wyndhamworldwide.com) will open a 497-unit luxury resort, Green Village at Cap Cana. It will feature one-beDominican Republicoom bungalows, two-beDominican Republicoom villas and four- to six-beDominican Republicoom residences. Amenities will include an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, 5,000 square feet of meeting space with access to an adjacent convention center, a 3,550-square-foot spa, fitness center, several restaurants, three bars and lounges, two swimming pools and infinity-edge pools at individual villas.
The Ritz-Carlton (www.ritzcarlton.com) will debut in 2010 with 220 rooms, a 16,000-square-foot spa, private beach club, meeting space and five restaurants. Ritz-Carlton’s 194 privately owned beachfront and golf Residences at the Ritz-Carlton, Cap Cana are part of a two-phase, $1 billion endeavor (real estate sales and construction).
Last January, Cap Cana and NH Hotels’ Sotogrande brand presented their new real estate and tourism product called Sotogrande at Cap Cana, located adjacent to the Jack Nicklaus-designed Las Iguanas golf course. The on-site boutique hotel will offer 88 beDominican Republicoom suites distributed among 21 building.
