Mexico Tourism Board Developing Huatulco Tourism - Mexico President Felipe Calderon confirmed Huatulco will receive an investments of over 54 million pesos during 2008 in order to develop and build Travel to Huatulco, Mexico as a worldwide tourism destination. The investment is over 5 times greater the Huatulco's average annual tourism investment since 2000.
Huatulco, Mexico is a coastal town along the Pacific Ocean in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Huatulco, Mexico lies along numerous foothills of the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains. When you travel to Huatulco, you are about 500km south of Acapulco. Huatulco as a travel destination is comprised of nine bays and over 35 beaches.
The New York Times once wrote and article which positioned Traveling to Huatulco Mexico as an "Anti-Cancun Mexico Travel Destination". Lots of untouched pristine beaches with peace and tranquility. There are several untouched beaches that can only be reached via small boats.
The Mexican Government, Oaxaca's state officials and the Huatulco's local government signed an agreement to continue its strategic program to stimulate more national and international visitors to Huatulco Mexico Resort Town. The Mexican government and the private sector both recognize the potential for tourism in Huatulco and will work together with the community to ensure all developments, whether directly or indirectly linked to tourism, are properly co-ordinated and progressed. President Calderon said: “Huatulco will be the symbol of what the government, private initiatives and the public can achieve together following a clear action plan”.
Huatulco, Mexico will build 2,500 new hotel rooms by 2012. The new hotel rooms will serve all travel class markets. There will be an emphasis to draw premium travelers to Huatulco. The government is liaising with prestigious international brands and the private sector to build boutique hotels, five star properties, a golf course and low rise condominiums. Elizondo Torres, Minister of Tourism in Mexico, said: “It is important for us to work with international as well as national companies because they have the experience of the demands of tourism, and the aim for the development of Huatulco is to attract tourists from around the world”. Other important plans for tourism include the expansion of Huatulco airport to enable it to welcome direct flights from Europe and Asia and the provision of tourism amenities.
Improving the quality of life for those living in Huatulco is an equally significant component of the development programme. Credit will be offered for local people to start small and medium sized businesses, and housing and education projects will receive considerable investment. |
