Computing or Mathematics Scholarships
Lehman College Bronx, New York - Scholarship and Mentorship Program is now accepting applications for the Fall 2006 semester. The program is open to undergraduates who have completed introductory courses in the computing or mathematics majors and to students in the computing or mathematics master's programs.
This two-year program offers scholarships for tuition and a laptop computer for the student's exclusive use, as well as individualized mentoring and career preparation. It also helps to place students in research and internship programs. The laptops, which students will be able to keep when they graduate, come with cutting-edge Linux and Maple software that complements class work and future career goals.
Students must complete five workshops and two advising sessions per semester. First-year students take part in workshops on career counseling, computer maintenance and software instruction. Second-year students become interns in an industrial setting, strengthening their experiences and increasing their job readiness. Funds for the Lehman program are provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
