MIKE JAMES KNOWS TOO MANY YOUTH GET THE GED IN JAIL

Mike James, NBA basketball player, hit it right on the head when he told me that too many youth are getting the GED in prison. Mike James has been giving back to the Amityville community for years, but the real “Amityville Horror” is that too many youth have dropped of high school and not gotten their GED diploma. It was great meeting with Mike James.
I am sure that we are going to give Amityville new help, but this help can made available to towns like Amityville across New York State and the United States. Every member of every family needs a diploma and we can cut down on the number of people going to jail by education.
Less than a minute later, I was standing next to a man, Calvin Watt, who is Deacon of the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral in Amityville. After a minute of conversation, we realized that he was a seventh grade student of mine about 37 years ago on the Lower East Side. What a small world!
