MITT ROMNEY AND RUDY GIULIANI NO GED
Profesor Martin Danenberg “El Quijote del GED”
I see no evidence on Romney and Giuliani websites of a commitment to GED for youth and adults. The tax savings to the American taxpayer can be tens of billions of dollars, but these conservative thinkers are not thinking out of the box and that is what leadership is about. Giuliani did not do a good job with the GED as mayor and Romney and his staff did not contact me after I contacted the governor’s office. Do Americans need more of the same old stuff if either one becomes president?
Black voters should be interested to learn that Romney comes from a state where the French GED was eliminated years ago and he did nothing to restore it so that Haitians, Africans, and others could take the test in French, which is one of the three official languages of the GED.
Both African-American and Hispanic voters should take note that without a GED in early life, people are destined to end up in jail and earn the GED, finally, there.
Hispanic voters should consider the fact that some states do not permit GED testing in Spanish. Oh, and most states do not permit GED testing in French, so African-Americans should be concerned.
I hope that all Americans realize that the civil right to school choice only is not the answer. People have chosen schools other than the public schools for decades and this has helped lead to distrust in the public schools, schools that often have deteriorated in quality which makes their argument more convincing. Racial intolerance was behind most of that. School choice will make progress for many children, but the children who are afflicted by street culture should have been represented in those schools in much greater numbers to assure minority families the success that they deserved. We are not really addressing the at risk youth, the truly at risk youth in gangs and hurt by gangs all across the United States and GED belongs in those communities in recreational programs for the dropouts. So we are not really going anywhere as a nation with the platforms of Romney and Giuliani.
The War on Poverty of President Lyndon Johnson failed, but the Republicans were there to offer another design that would help our nation. They were there to offer spending cuts without realizing that the great need for GED, which could have helped educate more Americans and cut down on future social spending costs, which is hurting our nation’s taxpayers.
YOU WILL FIND OUT IF YOU CHECK THE STATISTICS THAT NEW YORK AND MASSACHUSETTS ARE AMONG THE WORST STATES IN GED AND WE DO NOT NEED LEADERSHIP LIKE THAT FROM NOW ON.
