South Dakota is well above the national average in people who took the GED and above the national average in people who passed the GED. It handed out 1,241 diplomas in 2006, but it was above the national average in people who completed the test. Its passing percentage was above the national average.

There are wonderful workforce initiatives like the National Urban League Senior Citizens program that provides jobs at $7.15 per hour, but the GEDHOTLINE can quickly help people earn a GED that leads to jobs that pay $15 per hour or more, even those senior citizens just mentioned. The GEDHOTLINE is now a vendor for the New York City Department of Education working with Title 1 coordinators to impact on the lives of young and older parents who have never graduated from high school. The GEDHOTLINE helps people in English, Spanish, and French GED. There is a small fee for the GED Practice Test program, but do not hesitate to get help. The GEDHOTLINE does not believe in big profits! It believes in fast, professional help. Call the GEDHOTLINE or just write an email. It has given lots of free advice to people and its help to governors in Florida and New York has been free, too.

GED classes and the Official GED Practice Test should not be a requirement for taking the GED, but we should fight to expand these services across the United States and Puerto Rico. I offer the Official Practice Test as part of my GED program, but there have been dropouts recommended to me who were so educated that I felt no need to make them take a four hour practice test. One such candidate was getting everything right in exercises in the GED book. If a person is getting everything right, how can I help? If your state has Official Practice testing, you should still contact me and get my program. Why? The program will make you stronger than what those states do and it could mean tens of thousands or more dollars to you over your lifetime to get help from the GEDHOTLINE.

The GEDHOTLINE has held conferences in the Congress of the United States, the AFL-CIO building in Washington, D.C., the office of ASPIRA in New York City, the New York State Assembly, and the Bronx Supreme Court Building. Conferences have also been held in the Central Islip Public Library and the Consulate of El Salvador. The GEDHOTLINE has participated with LCLAA in Puerto Rico, the Black and Hispanic Caucus of the State Assembly, a New York State Democratic Senate Conference, Somos El Futuro on Long Island, HITN-TV with Malin Falu, and other television and radio programs.

The best GED states are Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Notice that only Alaska and Maine are the only states that require the Official Practice Test that are on my list of best states. Delaware, Louisiana, and North Carolina require the Official Practice and are among the worst states for GED. What I want is to double and triple the number of people who take and pass the GED. The states that have made the mistake of requiring Official GED Practice testing are holding Americans back from their goals and this type of policy reminds me in some ways of communism in education. The decisions of the New York State legislature have resulted in conditions getting worse and people waiting for months to take the GED (remember lines of people in communist countries waiting to buy food and other consumer items because of shortages resulting from state planning). We have lost hundreds of thousands of GED diplomas in the last six years and the GED should be in the Presidential debates. The next president of the United States must do something about the mess that has been caused. How well are Hispanics doing in Colorado? Hispanics are about 36% of the test takers, but only about 28% of the people who pass the GED in Colorado.

PEOPLE WHO DO NOT ATTEND CLASS NEED HELP AND THAT IS WHY AN OUTREACH HAS TO BE DONE TO HELP THEM. THE GEDHOTLINE WANTS ALL YOUTH TO STAY IN HIGH SCHOOL BUT EACH CASE IS DIFFERENT. THE GEDHOTLINE SPECIALIZES IN DROPOUT PREVENTION, TOO. PARENTS MAY CONTACT THE GEDHOTLINE FOR HELP OR ASK YOUR HIGH SCHOOL OR LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD TO CONTACT THE GEDHOTLINE. YOUR LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIAL MAY CONTACT OUR OFFICE FOR INFORMATION TO IMPROVE YOUR COMMUNITY THROUGH EDUCATION.
