Melting Pot vs. Salad Bowl
The term
"melting pot" was created by advertising agencies in the
mid 80's. It was a buzz word while pitching
their new creative work from Madison Avenue.
Hispanics
today are a "Salad Bowl". Each ethnicity has grown in
size. Our growth allows us
to clearly identify ourselves, I am Colombian, I am
Cuban...
"Niche
Market"
Hispanics
today total over 40 million in population, recently 1Q
2004 exceeded 14 million as Hispanic internet users.

Hispanic Consumers
Each Hispanic group
has its own set of values and traditions. Food and
festivals vary, beliefs and traditions influence how
they live everyday. Financial services and consumer
goods are viewed much differently by Hispanics than by
Americans. In some countries a bar of soap is used for
1) bathing 2) hair 3) wash dishes 4) clean floor
5) clean windows 6) cleanser. Social services is an area
of concern to all Hispanics. There is a lack of trust
due to the multitude of political adversity which is
spread across all of Latin America.
This new economy
represents $580 billion yearly. By 2008, Hispanic
purchases will exceed $1 trillion in spending.
