The initiative is part of a program launched in partnership with local mobile operator Telefónica. Pago Móvil con Visa (Visa Mobile Pay) is a new service that allows customers who own a Visa credit or debit card issued by Banco de Crédito, Interbank, BBVA Continental and Scotiabank in Peru to make payments directly from their mobile phones.

During the initial phase of the project, Visa customers will be able to initiate payments via mobile phones for cab fares and flower arrangements and top-up services, with deliveries of pharmaceutical products, gas distribution and catalog orders to be added at a later stage. The launch of Pago Móvil con Visa follows the introduction of the Visa mobile payments service for POS transactions using NFC technology, a program launched in cooperation with Maxis, a wireless carrier in Malaysia, Nokia and Maybank.

VisaNet Perú is the acquirer of Visa credit and debit payment transactions in Peru.
