This documentary reveals some of the untold history of one of NYC's major urban dance forms, associated with Hip Hop, known as Rockin' (later referred to as Up-Rockin'). Part of my inspiration for producing, recording, editing and directing this documentary was based on much controversy regarding the history of this dance form. In some cases certain Brooklyn based dancers have totally rejected any possibility of early Rock dance history from the Bronx and Manhattan. Within the past 15 years they have claimed that the dance started in Brooklyn and tried to insist that their style is the "correct" and "original" form. After many debates and valid points falling on def ears I saw the urgency to pick up my camera and seek out some of the Bronx Rock dance legends. I was determined to have their voices heard and their rightful place in Rock dance history established. The subjects in this documentary will challenge the history of Rock dance as most people know it. They will finally set the record straight regarding the true history of this amazing dance form!

I'd like to thank my good friend Franc "Perico" Reyes for putting me in contact with Marine Boy who then connected me with Papo who then introduced me to Enoch. It was all a chain reaction! I plan to screen ROCK DANCE HISTORY: The Untold Story of Up-Rockin' in it's entirety in the near future. It will feature more interviews of Rock dancers from the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. The screening event will also include a panel discussion with Rock dance pioneers and a Rockin' contest that will be judged by these legends. My sincerest gratitude go out to all who have helped in this effort including: Elias "Weebles" Reyes, Lil' Lep, Jerry Maze, Joey Juice, B-Boy Zip, Sam Lugo, Papo Luv, Arnaldo "Tito" Cepeda and everyone else. I also extend a special thank you to The Point CDC (Community/Arts Center) in the Bronx for all their support. Stay tuned for further information on my Hip Hop Dance History forum on facebook.

If you live in the state of Tennessee sharing your password to your music or movie access accounts could land you in jail after July 1. Tennessee governor Bill Haslam passed a bill making music and movie sharing illegal and to stop hackers from selling passwords in bulk.

The goal of the bill is aimed at stopping the billions of dollars lost in illegal music sharing. RIAA executive president of public policy Mitch Glazier told the AP that the bill is a necessary protective measure as digital technology evolves. He said the music industry has seen its domestic revenue fall from $15 billion to $7 billion in the past 10 years, Geek.com reported.

The Recording Industry Association of America backed the bill and chose Tennessee because of the music traditions and revenues it raises in the state.

"It seems that most people sharing passwords within the same house, say between spouses, would be safe. However, if you're sharing your Netflix password with 10 of your friends, you may be getting more than a slap on the wrist soon," Geek.com noted.

If people use less than $500 of services they would face a fine and up to a year in jail for a first offense. Over $500 and repeat offenses would be a felony.

How they will determine breaches will rely on getting access to usage records. What constitutes enough information to get a subpoena? Or would they need more than just a "hey judge there are teenagers in the house"?

How do the police counter, "but he borrowed my computer and used it"?

Interestingly, Netflix allows households to share access - but Tennessee only differentiates shared use under same roof.

So sharing Elvis music in Tennessee is now illegal and could make the jailhouse numbers rock.

Latin Music Legends: U.S. Postage Commemorative Forever Stamps. Five legendary musicians and performers of the Latin sound whose contributions have had a lasting impact on American music — Selena, Carlos Gardel, Carmen Miranda, Tito Puente, and Celia Cruz — today were honored on U.S. commemorative Forever stamps.

The stamps go on sale nationwide at Post Offices and online at usps.com/shop today.

"From this day forward, these colorful, vibrant images of our Latin music legends will travel on letters and packages to every single household in America," said Marie Therese Dominguez, vice president, Government Relations and Public Policy.

"In this small way, we have created a lasting tribute to five extraordinary performers, and we are proud and honored to share their legacy with Americans everywhere through these beautiful stamps," Dominguez said.

Among the distinctive musical genres and styles represented by the music legends featured on the Forever stamps are Tejano, tango, samba, Latin jazz and salsa. The honorees are:

Texas-born Selena Quintanilla-Perez (1971-1995) — known to fans simply as Selena — helped transform and popularize Tejano music by integrating techno-hip-hop beats and disco-influenced dance movements with a captivating stage presence. A Grammy recipient, the "Queen of Tejano" broke gender barriers with record sales and awards. Even after her tragic death, Selena remains an important representative of Latin culture.

A superb and evocative singer, Carlos Gardel (1890?-1935) was one of the most celebrated tango artists of all time. Raised in Argentina, Gardel helped popularize the tango in the United States, Europe and throughout Latin America through his performances and recordings. Known as "the man with the tear in his voice," also achieved fame as one of the stars of Spanish-language cinema.

Born in Portugal and raised in Brazil, Carmen Miranda (1909-1955) achieved fame as a samba singer before moving to New York City, where she gained celebrity in theater, film and radio. The "Brazilian Bombshell" appeared in 14 Hollywood musicals and recorded more than 300 songs. Her exotic colorful outfits and persona also became her signature.

Born in New York City to Puerto Rican parents, Tito Puente (1923-2000) was a musical virtuoso known as El Rey, "The King." With dynamic solos on the timbales and orchestral arrangements that have become classics in Latin music, Puente helped bring Afro-Cuban and Caribbean sounds to mainstream audiences. He performed for more than 60 years, and his legacy includes more than 140 albums.

A dazzling performer of many genres of Afro-Caribbean music, Celia Cruz (1925-2003) had a powerful contralto voice and a joyful, charismatic personality that endeared her to fans from different nationalities and across generations. Settling in the United States following the Cuban revolution, the "Queen of Salsa" performed for more than five decades and recorded more than 50 albums.

Joining Dominguez to dedicate the Latin Music Legends commemorative Forever stamps were Jim Rosenberg, president, Epiphone; Roland Swenson, managing director, South By Southwest; Cristina Balli, program director, Texas Folklife; Manuel "Manny" Arguello, district manager, Rio Grande District, U.S. Postal Service; Grupo Fantasma, 2011 Grammy Award winning band; and IIyssa Saenz, recording artist.

Boletos - Concert Tickets - Concertgoers sick of ballooning ticket prices should have some extra pocket change to rattle with their rock 'n' roll in the new year. 2010 was tough for the concert business as high prices kept many fans at home. Promoters now say they plan to make shows more affordable in 2011. But they'll also try to sell more T-shirts and other merchandise to make up for lost revenue.

Heading into last summer, usually the busiest time of the year, prices were set too high despite the sluggish economy. Managers and promoters believed fans would keep paying for the one or two concerts they see on average each year.

Instead, many stayed home and dozens of shows were canceled. Lots of venues filled seats with fire-sale prices.

Now, rather than charge lots early and offer discounts later, some promoters say they'll offer cheaper tickets from the start, partly because they know fans will spend as much as usual on beer and tchotchkes when they arrive.

ZZ Top, for one, expects to set prices below the 2010 average of $55. Some tickets will go for as little as $10.

"It's time to give the value back," said Carl Stubner, manager of the long-bearded rock band from Texas. "We'll find other ways to make money."

That doesn't mean all acts will be cheap -- not even Cheap Trick, whose tickets for 2011 are selling for around $80 with fees. Fans of hot performers including Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga also shouldn't expect to get much of a break.

Neil Diamond, for instance, who's continuing his comeback tour in New Zealand in February, said he'd like to bring ticket prices down, but can't because of the size of his production.

"As the shows get bigger, the expenses get bigger, so it's got to be translated somehow to the ticket price," he told The Associated Press. "If I just used the guitar it'd be a lot simpler, but then I'd have to put 50 people out of work."

Overall, though, more artists than ever are going out on the road to make up for falling CD sales. With more tickets on sale and consumers still pinching pennies, the pressure on prices is down.

Concert attendance fell 12 percent in the first half of 2010, compared with the same period a year ago, according to trade magazine Pollstar. The world's largest concert promoter, Live Nation Entertainment Inc., said attendance from July to September dropped 16 percent from a year ago, even after it slashed fees and prices for dozens of acts, including Rod Stewart.

"It's just getting too expensive," says Michael Nemcik, who lost his job as a stockbroker in 2009 and now works as a bartender in Los Angeles. He went to about a dozen concerts in 2010, about half as many as the year before. Paying more than $200 for decent seats to see A Perfect Circle in November was just too much.

"I'm a little more hesitant on spending money than I used to be," he said.

Concert ticket prices had climbed steadily until recently, beginning in the 1990s when promoters began moving from one-price-fits-all ticketing to a tiered model that charges much higher prices for seats close to the stage.

North American concert ticket prices rose from an average $26 in 1996 to a peak of $67 in 2008, an increase four times faster than inflation. That doesn't include ticket fees for everything from "order processing" to "convenience," which can tack on $10 or more.

In 2009, ticket prices came down by about a buck, as managers braced for the worst of the recession. Fans responded by buying 12 percent more tickets than in 2008. Promoters figured fans were coming back for more in 2010 and raised prices. It backfired.

That's when the promoters had to offer deep discounts to fill seats. The average ticket cost a little less than $61 in the first half of 2010. Second-half numbers are expected to show a drop, too, because the discounts have continued.

"People felt they could go back to pushing the envelope again," Pollstar editor-in-chief Gary Bongiovanni said. "The economy has proven that a lot of people probably reached too far."

Although the average isn't expected to fall drastically in 2011, there'll be bargains at the back of the house.

Prices for front row seats may actually go up as part of Live Nation's bid to grab revenue that might otherwise go to ticket resellers. But the company has said it wants to cut prices even further for the cheap seats to let in more fans.

When Live Nation cut prices in 2010, fans spent about the same amount as always -- nearly $18 in North American amphitheaters -- on beer, merchandise and other stuff, all of which helps the company's bottom line because it owns major venues including the House of Blues in 13 cities.

Live Nation also is developing a long-overdue shopping basket for its websites to lure fans to spend their ticket savings on CDs, clothes and other items and it recently rolled out an iPhone app that could be used in the future to sell merchandise.

None of those extra businesses works unless fans buy tickets, though.

"We know that if you lower the price, they'll come," Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino told investors in November.

But some of the most powerful managers in the business are motivated to secure as much money as they can for their artists, and Live Nation faces pressure to outbid rival concert promoters by paying artists more. Artists struggling to make up for income lost to plummeting CD sales also may push fans to pay more. Those factors can cause prices to inch up.

Rapino said the company may simply have to walk away from some deals and hold fewer shows, especially ones that have low or no profit margins.

Demi Lovato, whose Camp Rock 2 tour with the Jonas Brothers had to cancel a dozen North American shows in 2010, told the AP recently that she'll do her best to keep prices reasonable for a solo tour planned for 2011 to promote her third album. (Her camp says the tour is still on track, despite her entering treatment for "emotional and physical issues.")

"I have best friends that aren't in the industry and are dealing with just buying groceries and things like that, so I want to do my part," she said.

Boletos - Concert Tickets - The world's largest ticketing giant, Ticketmaster, and concert promoter, Live Nation just tackled a huge barrier to their planned merger. The two companies have reached agreements with the Department of Justice so the new "Live Nation Entertainment" is just around the corner.

The Justice Department is demanding some key concessions to keep the deal from crushing competition -- a key concern of smaller rivals as well as consumers. Ticketmaster will have to license its ticketing software to the runner up in the space, AEG (AEGXY.PK), which would allow it to "self ticket" and provide ticketing services. Another way the DOJ is fostering the growth of another rival: Ticketmaster must sell its ticketing software company Paciolan, to Comcast-Spectator [CMCSA 22.10 -0.08 (-0.36%) ] or another buyer. Venues that work with Paciolan can lower their ticketing fees, which will give Paciolan's a new advantage.

The DOJ is doing everything it can to prevent the merged behemoth from being unstoppable. The companies have to agree to court-ordered restrictions to their behavior, which includes "anticompetitive bundling," firewalls to prevent information from ticketing to be used in promotions and artist management decisions. And the new company is under a 10-year court order barring retaliation against venues that sign ticketing contracts with its rivals.

Wall Street was thrilled-- Live Nation gained nearly 15 percent, Ticketmaster up 16.5 percent. The stocks got a dramatic boost despite the fact that bundling of services and cross-pollination of information would be among the primary reasons to merge these two companies.

This says a lot about the Obama Administration's antitrust policy. It's a big deal that the DOJ approved this merger that's been so harshly criticized by consumer groups. But the administration is trying to present the deal as actually promoting competition. Assistant Attorney General says that by creating two viable new competitors this should eventually bring prices down. We'll see how AEG and Comcast-Spectator absorb the spin-offs, and if it really creates a more robust market among ticket dealers. But we should know pretty soon -- now that this hurdle has been cleared we can expect the deal to close quickly, before the busy summer concert season heats up

Boletos - Concert Tickets - Shareholders are clearly spooked by the company's Investor Day presentation Thursday, addressing concert business declines. The pullback in consumer spending has slammed the concert business, and though Live Nation Entertainment is experimenting with new ticket-pricing models, that's not enough to assuage concerned investors' fears.

Ahead of the Investor Day presentation I spoke to CEO Michael Rapino, who told me that their ticket sales dropped five percent, compared to the 17 percent declines the rest of the industry suffered in the first half of the year. But the company's gross ticket revenue was down 9 percent to $822 for those six months, as it's brought ticket prices and fees down.

The real concern — Rapino tells us that there's no indication that the concert-goer is rushing back. Ticket volumes in the second half of the year could be down as much as 15 percent.

LiveNation Entertainment stock has been under pressure over the past few months as big acts like U2 and The Eagles have cancelled or postponed shows. U2's postponing its tour will push $6 million in revenue expected this year to next year. But Rapino says that the focus on concert delays and cancellations is overblown, saying that this year some 3 percent of shows have been moved or cancelled, and every year that number ranges from 1 percent to three percent.

Rapino has been pushing to innovate the ticket-pricing model to rev-up sales in this weak consumer market. Since the merger, the company has five revenue streams — forty-plus percent of revenue comes from ticketing. Rapino says that the company's invested in enough other pieces of the concert business that it can afford to take lower margins on tickets, in order to pack theaters and drive more sales of merchandise, food, etc.

Consumers are accustomed to fixed prices for concert tickets, but LiveNation is trying to introduce pricing that looks a lot more like airline seats, or even retail. Now prices for a certain seat in an auditorium will fluctuate depending on the popularity of the event or how close to the date of the event you're making the purchase.

Retailers discount coats to clear out inventory and airlines discount tickets to make sure they don't fly an empty plane. Rapino figures he can apply the same model to the archaic ticketing business and customers will eventually be grateful. But the billion-dollar question is whether this flexible model can draw a reluctant consumer

The group is set to allure the audience during a three-night performance series, taking place June 10, 11 and 12, 2010 at 8PM.

The beacon of the series will be directed by world-renowned flamenco guitarist Merengue de Córdoba. Beautifully costumed performers will dance and play to the visual and sonic delight of all. Merengue has been playing guitar around the world for more than 50 years and imparts the basics of the flamenco guitar in a pleasant and comprehensible way. In fact, he was the first artist from Córdoba to be awarded the guitar prize at the Córdoba National Flamenco Art Contest in 1968. He has worked with the National Ballet of Spain, received numerous honors and gold badges from flamenco clubs and more than a hundred silver plaques in recognition of his work for the flamenco.

Now, for the first time ever, Centerline Talent will debut the virtuosity of Merengue de Córdoba in New York, along with an ensemble of his finest dancers including Antonio Alcazar (Premio Nacional "Vicente Escudero" Award), Victoria Placios (Premio Nacional "La Malena" Award), and his two award winning daughters, Desirée Rodriguez Calero “La Merenguita” (Premio Nacional “Pilar López” Award), and Maria Angeles “Coco Calero” winner of the Primer Premio De Baile Flamenco “La Estepona Flamenca”.
