New York City Salsa Nights
By Marlene Amaya - MusicNewsWeekly.com - The situation New Yorker Latinos as well as those in who live in other States are going through, with the new rules of immigration they want to pass, Latinos are dressed to impress. It is a night of Gala. An event we can forget. Where every Latino is saying we are representing. New York welcomes the best of Salsa music in their Arena known as Madison Square Garden.
The opening event saw Gilberto Santa Rosa who with his sensual music reminds us there is more to life. Every one in the audience danced and sang along. At the end of his performance he even danced to the beat of salsa with one of his beautiful dancers.

The night was just starting when new faces, young kids, I call them “ The new kids from the block” N’Klabe, who gave a spectacular performance as they sang, “I love Salsa”.
They are the beginning of the future, the new school I may add. As they performed through the night they introduced someone very new. A young Lady named Gildred who sang along with them. She was introduced as the new young face that soon will be coming out with a new CD.

The best was yet to come. This was only the beginning as the night moved along with the man of the hour, the one who Gilberto Santa Rosa called “the Future of Salsa” Victor Manuelle. The man drove every woman crazy as they sang along with him. He turned the Arena up side down with his beautiful melodies of salsa ballads.
When every one thought the night was getting better, they were wrong because the night didn’t get better. It exploded to another level with the one and only Wisin Y Yandel. Who with several of their great hits and movement got everyone pumping. They pumped the audience so much they even got the press corps to drop their cameras and dance along. The two young Reggaeton rappers confirmed that they are a star attraction no matter what kind of audience is in the house.

Jerry Rivera, who we all know as the “ Cara De Nino” (Baby Face) was next. He came representing Puerto Rico with the flag in his hand. He held the flag throughout his entire performance. He sang both his old hits as well as new songs. The last song he dedicated to Shakira :Amores como el Nuestro”. This is the song whose intro Shakira uses currently in her number one hit “Hips don’t lie”.
The last but certainly not the least was the one who closed the show with his “sensual Salsa” style, Oscar D’ Leon who dedicated this show to The king of Salsa, Tito Puente. Oscar exuded life to those remaining at the end. He showed the audience what salsa is all about giving us a taste of good music.
