Foreclosure Filings Decreasing July to August 2009
Jobs - The number of U.S. households threatened with losing their homes held steady last month, a sign that lenders' efforts to help distressed borrowers may be having a gradual impact. More than 358,000 foreclosure related filings were recorded in August, meaning one in 357 U.S. homes received a filing, RealtyTrac Inc. reported Thursday. That number, up 18 percent from a year ago, includes default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions.

El hecho de que los estadounidenses rechacen empleos en el sector agrícola no es nada nuevo: la llegada de mexicanos y otros trabajadores extranjeros para ocupar vacantes en los campos ha generado un amplio debate sobre la inmigración. Y este año parece que el debate continuará.
Los agricultores siguen solicitando visados a través de un programa federal diseñado para ofrecer empleos temporales a trabajadores del campo en regiones donde falta ayuda en las cosechas. Funcionarios de inmigración recibieron 5.574 solicitudes de este tipo, llamadas H-2A, desde el 1 de octubre a mediados de junio. New Home Inventories are Shrinking
Real Estate and Mortgage Home Loans - Sales of newly-constructed single-family homes rebounded 11 percent from May to June, to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 384,000, the U.S. Census Bureau reported.
That's the fastest pace of new home sales since November, 2008, but represents a 21.3 percent decline from a year ago. At that rate, it would take 8.8 months for the 281,000 new homes on the market at the end of June to be sold, when six months of inventory is considered a more healthy balance between supply and demand.
