LATINOS SHINE ON STAGE- MEGATON 2005 - Who was to say that history was not made today in New York City at Madison Square Garden at the event called Megaton 2005.
Despite the fact that Latinos often rank at the bottom of perceptions among
minorities in the United States most have to admit that they now own a piece of music history representing the look of the new generation of Latinos. Thanks to Mercado Cabrera Music (MCM) a group of young Hispanics performed today on Thanksgiving night to put their signatures on this event.
Each of the artists put their souls into their respective performances. Despite the differences between some of the superstar performers on this card, everyone came out a winner tonight. The diversity of styles between the fabulous five gave this event several looks at an emerging era in Hip Hop and Reggae Spanish Style. The emergence of the Reggaeton genre was in full effect in all its Glory last night.
Hector El Father pounded the stage with power lyrics and sounds. Ivy Queen confirmed her title as the Queen of Reggaeton working the crowds as the only elite female artist. Don Omar stood as the undisputed King showing off his rapping and singing skills to a crowd who all sang his songs in unison. Tego Calderon, the “Callejero con Elegancia” displayed his unique flow and show. Don Omar and Tego even combined on a duet, which was the highlight of the evening. We were also treated to an inspired El Cangri. Daddy Yankee showed why he is the top attraction of the Reggaeton world even adding a surprise duet with Pharell to show off his star power.
In addition, we had the new wave in the form of Alexis and Fido, Khriz and Angel, Voltio, Adassa, Noztra and John Eric. The producers Luny Tunes also graced with their presence. The future is bright and the depth of creations Reggaeton has imported to the U.S. is unlimited.
Tonight at the Garden all Latinos no matter where they came whether from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, the Caribbean or Central America they were well represented.
