BY Luis Vazquez Musicnewsweekly.com There was an explosion in midtown last night. It happened at the Spirit nightclub where a mass of activity took place. The stampede you heard was the mass amount of media that crowded into the press area to take pictures and record the words. The reason why all were present was the event called Reggaeton Explosion III. The hosts of the event are the good people of Lifebeat who helped organize this event.

Once again the stars came out to promote the organizations effort to fight AIDS. This has been a problem area for Hispanics in the United States. The artists came to help raise money and awareness concerning this issue. The stars that participated tonight were Don Omar, Pitbull, Voltio, Devante, Tanto Metro, and Nina Sky.

The sponsors for the event included NocheLatino, BET, Vibe, MTV 2, Music Choice, El Especial, and even Telemundo were present. The show was a tremendous success as the crowds all had good vantage points to enjoy their favorite artists on a smaller stage giving it the intimate feel of a house party rather than a club event.

The show moved well as each artist did a few songs then moved on to the next one as the Main eventer's showed off their skills and the DJ’s made them sound good as usual. DJ Nelson and DJ Enuff and the Heavy Hitters set the tone magnificently as they do on a nightly basis.

All the artists were very accessible and all looked excited to be there this evening. The performances were full of energy and everyone was immersed in another excellent showing by Reggaeton’s elite and near elite. The press surrounded each artist as he entered the press area but were respectful enough to give each artist a chance to make the rounds.

This peace was tested to its limits when Don Omar arrived. El Escandolo TV and several market networks traded interview time but the Don showed off his gold, gave the press good shots and played the showman he also showed how down to earth he could be as well. He took the time to express his feelings on several controversies. Basically, Don doesn’t give much credence to those who criticize him and they don’t get the time of day from him.

Pitbull and Nina Sky talked about upcoming projects and spoke about how proud they were to be involved with this event. Voltio was sharp and after his performance was very hyped up afterwards. In all it was good to see the stars visit a club event on a Wednesday night in New York City and have things run well and with a lot of class. There was no hurrying and shunning last night and it bode well for the reputation of Reggaeton in the United States and especially in light of the disease that they all came to help combat.

The mission of Lifebeat in conjunction with musical events continues to be a very good mix and has elicited great respect for this organization because many artists swear by them. Even after this event they continue to work 365 days a year on a variety of events and they should be commended for their efforts.
