October 2004, HISPANIC BUSINESS - Among some of the nation's largest key metropolitan areas, South Florida and New York boast the largest percentages of upper-income Hispanic households. The two East Coast areas also have the lowest percentage of middle-income families among five areas examined by HispanTelligence®

The Miami area leads New York in concentration of households earning more than $100,000 a year – 10.1 percent compared with 9.4 percent. At the other end of the income spectrum, the New York area has the largest share of households with incomes of $35,000 or less (51 percent), followed by Dallas-Fort Worth (49.7 percent) and Miami (49 percent). In Hispanic household median income, however, the Chicago area leads with $47,118, followed by Los Angeles at $44,023, Dallas-Fort Worth at $43,263. Miami at $38,634, and New York at $36,593.
